Lamentablemente, tenemos que anunciar y denunciar una vez más la arbitraria detención de uno de nuestros estudiantes. El pasado jueves, 4 de marzo 2010, Sharaf Nayef Ali Alswetat (17 años), ha sido detenido por el ejército israelí mientras iba hacia Yenin en un bús con un amigo y un profesor de instituto.
Eran, aproximadamente, las 14:00 horas cuando el bus en donde se encontraba Sharaf y que se acercaba al checkpoint de Zatara, en la zona de Nablús, tuvo que interrumpir su trayecto. Cuatro soldados israelís pararon los coches que se encontraban delante del autobús. No se han inspeccionado los documentos de los pasajeros y los coches habían sido autorizados a continuar. Luego vino el turno del autobús, que había sido parado y los soldados juntaron todos los documentos de identificación de los pasajeros para inspeccionarlos. Ellos escogieron el documento de identificación de Sharaf y le ordenaron bajarse del bus. Sharaf no tuvo más remedio que obedecer.
Los soldados ordenaron al conductor abandonar la zona mientras detenían a Sharaf. El conductor les dijo que Sharaf estaba bajo su responsabilidad, ya que es menor, y que tenía que contactar con su familia antes de que le pasara cualquier cosa. Sin embargo, si la familia sabe donde se encuentra Sharaf, no está autorizada a visitarlo o hablar con él por teléfono. A Sharaf se le podría impedir hablar con su familia y con un abogado hasta incluso 90 días, decidido por un juez militar de manera opcional. Podría ser detenido sin conocer los cargos que se imputaron contra él hasta 188 días. Puede que pase ocho días sin llevarlo ante un juez, mientras tanto, será interrogado y seguramente sometido a crueles prácticas. Tenemos testimonios directos sobre estas prácticas, otro alumno nuestro que estuvo detenido durante el pasado mes de agosto y finalmente puesto en libertad después de tres semanas. Algunas de estas prácticas: las celdas incomunicadas, técnicas ofensivas de interrogación, largas sesiones de interrogación y privación de comer y dormir.
Hoy en día, nuestros ensayos con los alumnos que provienen de Cisjordania han sido invadidos por la tristeza a causa de la detención de Sharaf. Su irreprimible entusiasmo por las acrobacias y su carácter generoso y humilde se echan mucho de menos. La sala de ensayo está más silenciosa y triste que de costumbre.

يؤسفنا إعلامكم و الإبلاغ عن حبس أحد طلابنا بشكل تعسفي . أوقف الجيش الإسرائيلي الخميس الماضي ، الرابع من شهر آذار 2010 شرف علي السويطات (17 عاما) خلال ذهابه إلى جنين في الباص مع صديق و معلم في المدرسة .
كانت الساعة 14:00 تقريبا عندما تم إيقاف الباص الذي كان يركبه شرف قريبا من نقطة التفتيش زعترة ، في منطقة نابلس. أوقف 4 جنود إسرائلييون السيارات التي كانت أمام الباص . لم يفتشوا أوراق أصحاب الركاب و سمحوا للسيارات بالعبور. بعد ذلك أتى دور الباص ، تم إيقافه و جمع الجنود الإسرائلييون جميع هويات الركاب لتفتيشها. إختاروا هوية شرف و أمروه بالنزول من الباص. لم يكن لدى شرف أي خيار إلا أن يطيع.

و في المساء تمكنت العائلة من الحصول على بعض المعلومات غير الرسمية فيما يتعلق بمكان شرف ، و ظهر أنه تم نقله إلى معتقل حوارة بالقرب من نابلس . لكن على الرغم من معرفة مكانه ، لن يُسمح العائلة زيارته أو التكلم معه عن طريق الهاتف. يمكن منع شرف من التحدث مع عائلته أو مع محامي لغاية 90 يوما ، يترك القرار لقاض عسكري. يمكن حبسه دون التوجيه له أية اتهامات لغاية 188 يوم. كما و يمكن أن يمكث 8 أيام دون المثول امام القاضي، في غضون ذلك سيتم استجوابه و عرضه لبعض الممارسات الوحشية. لدينا مصدر مباشر لهذه الممارسات من قبل طالب آخر تم اعتقاله خلال شهر آب الماضي و تم اطلاق سراحه بعد 3 أسابيع. من بين هذه الممارسات الإحتجاز الإنفرادي المنعزل و وسائل استجواب بذيئة و جلسات تحقيق طويلة و منع الطعام و النوم .
اليوم، يعاني تدريبنا الأسبوعي مع الطلاب في كل أنحاء الضفة الغربية من الحزن الشديد لدى اعتقال شرف. نفتقد لحماسته الشديدة تجاه الألعاب البهلوانية و كرامته و تواضعه. إن قاعة التدريب هادئة على غير عادتها و حزينة.
على الرغم من أننا واثقون أن نضوج شرف و قوة شخصيته سيساعدانه على مواجهة شروط الإعتقال القاسية ، نحن قلقون على حالته و تأثير هذه الحادثة المريعة على مستقبله. كان شرف يحضر بلا تعب إمتحانات النهائية ليتم قبوله في الجامعة خلال السنة القادمة و الآن ليس لديه خيار إلا أن ينتظر ما سيقرره قاض عسكري إسرائلي فيما يتعلق بمستقبله.
نحن ، مدرسة السيرك الفلسطيني و عائلته نريد أن يكون لنا خيارا ، لذلك نشجع على مطالبة القوات العسكرية الإسرائيلية إطلاق سراح شرف ، بالإضافة إلى التأثير على أعضاء البرلمان الإسرائيلي و الزيارات الدبلوماسية التي توافقها إسرائيل و عملاء منظمة الأمم المتحدة و السياسيين الدوليين و الضغط على الصحافة.

Dear Friends,
Sadly, once again we have to announce, and denounce, the arbitrary arrest of one of our
students. Last Thursday, 4 of March 2010, Sharaf Nayef Ali Alswetat (17 years old) was arrested
by the Israeli army while on a bus with a friend and a school teacher, heading to Jenin.
It was approximately 2:00 pm when the bus where Sharaf was travelling approaching Zatara
checkpoint, in the area of Nablus, had to interrupt the ride. Four Israeli soldiers stopped the cars
preceding the bus. The documents of the passengers were not inspected and the cars were
allowed to proceed. Then came the turn of the bus, which was stopped and the soldiers collected
all the identity cards of the passengers for inspection. They singled out Sharaf’s document and he
was ordered to leave the bus. Sharaf had no other choice but to obey.
The soldiers ordered the driver to leave the area as they intended to detain Sharaf. The driver rebutted that he was in charge of Sharaf, who is a minor, and had to contact his family before anything happened to him. The resistance of the driver was met with the violent reaction of a soldier, who attempted to hit the driver and threatened him. The other passengers of the bus were also shaken at the sight of what was happening. The driver had no other choice but to obey. He drove off slowly to try to see as much as he could of what was happening to Sharaf, who had to be left with the soldiers. They saw them searching him. While the image of Sharaf was becoming smaller and smaller as the bus was driving away from the area, the driver’s anguish was growing.
Later in the evening, the family managed to collect some unofficial information regarding Sharaf’s whereabouts and it emerged that he had been transferred to Huwara detention and interrogation centre, near Nablus. Yet, even if they know where Sharaf is, his family is not allowed to visit neither to talk to him on the phone. Sharaf could be prevented from talking to his family and to a lawyer for up to 90 days, as discretionarily decided by a military judge. He could be held in detention without knowing what the charges against him are for up to 188 days. It might take him up to eight days before being brought before a judge; in the meantime he will be interrogated and likely subjected to cruel practices. We had first hand account of these practices, such as solitary confinement, abusive interrogation techniques, long interrogation sessions, food and sleep deprivation from another student of ours who was arrested last August and eventually released after three weeks.
Today, our weekly training with the students coming from throughout the West Bank has been deeply saddened by the arrest of Sharaf. His irrepressible enthusiasms for acrobatics, his generous and selfless character are very much missed. The training hall is unusually quiet and sad. While we are confident that his mature and strong temper will help him in coping with the harsh conditions of detention, we are also very concerned about his wellbeing and the impact that this terrible event might have on his future. Sharaf was tirelessly preparing for his final exams to be admitted to university next year and; now he has no choice but to wait for what an Israeli military judge will decide for his future.
We, the Palestinian Circus School, and his family want to have a choice; therefore we encourage action to urge the Israeli military authorities to release Sharaf, including through lobbying members of the Israeli parliament, diplomatic missions accredited in Israel, UN officers, foreign policy makers and media pressure.
